Common Illness Guidance

Whilst your child’s doctor or pharmacist is the best person to advise on whether they are fit to swim, here are some general guidelines for common illnesses:

  • Vomiting and/or diarrhoea: Stay off swimming until 14 days after the last incident.
  • Chickenpox: Stay off swimming until all scabs have completely fallen off (to avoid them coming off in the pool, ick!).
  • Colds, coughs, and COVID-19: Avoid swimming if your child has a raised temperature, thick green mucus, or is generally feeling unwell.
  • Chest or ear infections/any illness requiring antibiotics: Your child should not swim until they have finished their antibiotics and are feeling well.

Reporting Absences

All absences should be reported through the Parent Portal; there is no need to message us separately. Due to the high volume of messages we receive, we cannot guarantee a response to absence notifications sent by other means.

How to Access the Parent Portal

Payment for Missed Lessons

Unfortunately, all missed lessons are still payable. When you enrol with us, you are paying for the lesson to be made available to you. We incur costs such as pool hire, teacher wages, and insurance, whether or not you attend the lesson.

We offer limited availability for catch-up lessons within our Parent and Baby/Child lessons. This is a discretionary service and is not guaranteed. No credit or refund is offered if you’re unable to secure a catch up lesson. If you are enrolled in these lessons, you will have received a separate email outlining the process.

For extended absences due to a certified medical condition, please get in touch with us directly.
