Frequently Asked Questions

What availability do you have?

To see all our availability, click here

Everything that says Book Now is available.

If no suitable lesson is available, you can register for the waiting list via the same link.

Do you offer trial lessons?
Yes, you can book a two week trial lesson for £10 here.

Occasionally we have one off 1:1/2:1 spaces, which are payable at their standard rate. You can see our availability and book in or register for the waiting list here. (Here needs to be linked to the Find a Class form.) If you register for the waiting list you will receive an email whenever a regular or one off space becomes available.
Can I watch my child's lesson?

Yes, in Ormskirk you can sit poolside and in Southport you can sit in the cafe area at the window which looks onto the pool. At both pools there is limited space, so we ask that spectators be kept to a minimum.

Do you teach in the water?

Yes, we think this is really important to support our little sharks. Being in the water enables us to help keep our swimmers safe, correct and demonstrate technique and build trust and rapport.

What do I need to bring to the lessons?

Here’s a quick checklist of all the essentials:

  • Swimming costume or shorts for your little one (your child will get changed poolside so needs to have this on under their clothes)

  • Goggles (optional)

  • Towel

  • Hair bobbles to tie back hair or, ideally, swim cap

  • Well-fitting Konfidence Happy Nappy over your child’s normal swim nappy if they aren’t yet potty trained

  • Post-swimming snack!

Please note: all equipment, including floatation equipment will be provided.

How do I pay for lessons?

When you book in, you’ll pay by debit or credit card.

You will be enrolled in future lesson terms automatically and payment will be taken via the Gocardless direct debit. Email confirmation and an invoice will be sent to you in advance and can be cancelled by letting us know you no longer wish to continue with lessons.
How do I let you know that I will miss a lesson?

You can do this via the Parent Portal.

Can I get a refund or make up class for any missed lessons?

Unfortunately, this isn’t something we’re able to offer as a general rule. When you book your child in for swimming lessons we make a financial commitment in advance to ensure that the pool and teachers are available to provide the lessons you’ve booked in for. That financial commitment remains even if you’re unable to attend a lesson.

If you are booked in for a 1:1 and know that your child will be off for a set period of time (for instance due to breaking a bone or lengthy illness), it may be possible for us to fill that space for you, in which case we will offer you a credit against your next invoice.

If we have any ad hoc availability for a make up class in the same week as your child’s missed lesson, we will let you know where possible. Please note this is at our discretion and isn’t guaranteed.

My child is ready to move up a stage / I need to change my child's lesson. How do I go about this?

Please check our availability by clicking here

All available lessons will say Book Now next to them. Please contact us via the Parent Portal to let us know which lesson to swap your child over to.

If there isn’t a suitable lesson available, let us know which is your preferred lesson and we can let you know when it is available.

How do I cancel my child's swimming lessons?

If you wish to cancel your child’s swimming lessons then please email hello@daddysharkswimschool.com message us via the Parent Portal. We will then confirm the date of your child’s last lesson (which will be the last date of the current lesson term or 30 days from the date of your message, whichever is later).

Is the two-week trial available for everyone?
Our two-week trial offer is exclusively for the benefit of new swimmers who are joining Daddy Shark Swim School for the first time, or existing swimmers whose teacher has recommended a trial in a different lesson format, eg a Parent and Child swimmer trialling a Stage 1 lesson.

Unfortunately, it isn’t available to returning swimmers booking the same or similar lesson format, as they already know our classes, teachers, and structure. If you’re looking to return to Daddy Shark Swim School and aren’t sure of which lesson format would be suitable, please get in touch at hello@daddysharkswimschool.com.
